On Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Floyd County Sheriff's Office and Floyd Against Drugs (FAD) hosted a successful Drug Drop event at the Judicial Courthouse on North Fifth Avenue. This initiative, part of the DEA National Drug Take Back Day, provided a safe and convenient way for residents to dispose of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.
The event saw a remarkable turnout, with 35 vehicles participating in the drive-through drop-off. In total, over 98 pounds of medications were collected, ensuring they will be safely destroyed by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. This effort not only prevents potential misuse but also protects our water sources from contamination.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Rome and Floyd County community for their active participation and support in making this event a success. Your commitment to keeping our community safe and drug-free is truly appreciated.
