First Annual Oratorical Contest - September 23, 2023

Floyd Against Drugs is sponsoring its inaugural oratorical contest in memory of Mr. Greg Shropshire.

The contest will take place Saturday, September 23, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Charles Parker Center, 1325 Kingston Highway, Rome, GA 30161.

Speech Topic: Living Drug-Free is a Life Worth Celebrating

Mr. Shropshire is remembered fondly by people of all ages for many reasons. He was a beloved friend and family person, a highly committed public servant, a veteran educator with the Rome City Schools and Rome Transitional Academy, and a consultant and principal behind each summer’s Foundation Camp.

He held leadership positions in many community groups including 100 Black Men of Rome-Northwest Georgia. Community youth are among his greatest legacy for they bear the thumbprint of his outstanding service focused on their success and well-being: he devoted much of his heart and time to mentorship.
