Floyd Against Drugs (FAD) is proud to recognize the success of the recent Drug Take Back Day events held on October 24, 2026, which resulted in the collection of 152 pounds of unwanted and expired medications across Floyd County.

Combined with 224 pounds previously collected by FAD and the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, a total of 376 pounds was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for safe destruction.

The Floyd County Police Department also participated in the initiative, hosting a drug drop-off event at Walmart on Cartersville Highway. During the event, 25 vehicles stopped by to dispose of unwanted or expired medications, resulting in an additional 67 pounds collected.

Together, these efforts helped remove hundreds of pounds of potentially dangerous medications from our community.

Properly disposing of unused and expired medications is an important step in preventing prescription drug misuse, accidental poisoning, and the improper disposal of medications in our environment.

Floyd Against Drugs appreciates the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, Floyd County Police Department, and the community members who took the time to participate in these events.

Every medication safely disposed of is one less opportunity for misuse. Thank you for helping make Floyd County a safer, healthier place to live!
