Drug Drop Off – Saturday, April 27, 2019

Floyd Against Drugs (FAD) and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department participated in the National Drug Take Back Day at Redmond Regional Medical Center on April 27th.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Unwanted and expired over the counter medications were also collected. The event is convenient in that participants did not have to get out of their cars but a volunteer would take their drugs, weigh them, and place them in a storage bin that was collected and destroyed by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). There were 30 pounds of medication collected with 48 cars participating. Look for another drug drop event in September.

If you are unable to participate in a community drug drop event, there is a drug box located in the booking room of the Floyd County Jail on Hwy 53. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
