On January 30th, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office sponsored a S.I.D.E (Sheriff’s Impaired Driving Experience) event at Coosa High School. Assisted by Dan Falcitelli , Executive Director of Floyd Against Drugs, and promoted by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Jimmy Allred, who is a board member of FAD, the program took approximately 125 to 135 high school students ages 14, 15, and 16 through a drunk driving simulation. The object is for the youth to operate a golf cart through a series of cones while wearing “beer goggles” which simulate driving a vehicle while intoxicated.
Floyd Against Drugs was proud to provide the funds to purchase the simulation goggles for these events. The goal is to educate young people on the dangers of underage drinking and driving while under the influence.
